Cappadocia
At the center of Anatolia, lies a region
known as Cappadocia, where millions of years ago, violent eruptions
of volcanoes created a non-terrestrial landscape. The color of the
soil changes from beige, yellow and reddish brown to pink and violet
depending on the season and the time of day. Intrigued by their mysterious
appearance, Turks call the tower-like formations "Fairy Chimneys."
Cappadocia is one of
the world's most fascinating open-air museums and several small Turkish
towns and villages thrive amidst the splendor of antiquity.
Cappadocia is an extraordinary
place for outdoor activities like trekking, bicycle riding and horse
riding. One can also take a balloon trip and enjoy sightseeing of
this beautiful scene from a different point of view. |
