Ismet
OZTURK
Ismet Öztürk was burn in Kayseri in 1959, in a small village near
Mounth Erciyes (Argeus). He began mountain climbing in 1976 and studied
in Kayseri, gaining his qualifications in mountain climbing and trekking
under the expert tultion of Dr.Bozkurt Ergör, the then president of the
Turkish Mountaineering Federation, and ploneer of the first winter assault
on Mount Ararat.
Between the years of 1979-1984 Ismet worked
as an Instructor for the Turkish Mountaineering Federation, in the year
1982, he was awarded his Diploma of Mountain Guiding, as a graduate of
the first generation of mountain guides in Turkey.
Ismet has climbed all the Turkish mountains,
both in summer and winter, his favourite climb is Mount Ararat, which
he has made more than hunderd times. First as a member of the fourth ever
winter climb team. From 1984-1990 İsmet took more than 1500 people to
the pack of Ararat. The Noah Ark Search Expeditions of 1982-1990 were
guided by Ismet Öztürk.
Also to his credit is the first ever climb
of the east face of Demirkazik (3490 m) achleved in july 1987. Ismet has
widely travelled, climbing the Alps of France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
İsmet has guided for the D.A.V., C.A.I., C.A.S., C.A.F. İsmet recived
his Diploma of Culture and History in 1993. His other interest include
trekking, cycling, white water rafting, bird watching and photography.
İsmet enjoys the outdoor lifestyle and speaks English well.
