Munzur Range

An extension of the Taurus Mountain Chain to northeast is the Munzur Mountain Range that rises between Murat and Karasu depressions. Munzur Range has several peaks above 3000 meters, with Mt. Akbaba (3462 m) on the northern side the highest point. Munzur River, running through a deep valley among mountains, is especially of interest to rafting fans.

The range is a very good trekking area with its glacier lakes, many small waterfalls, hot water springs, rich flora and fauna. The region is also an important para-gliding center.
